COMMUNITY PROJECT
Muttama Creek
2022
In early 2022, Julia was invited to create artworks in response to two workshops based around Muttama Creek. The project engaged relevant industry professionals and local farmers. The aim of the project was to assist in harmonising conflicting priorities for future land-use. A relevant and sensitive topic. Engaging and interacting with the many locals living on the land in a mediated, open, project-based environment made for an intriguing and eye-opening few days. The collaborative project exists thanks to Tamara Schall, Sustainable Farms Project, Australian National University and Muttama Creek Landcare Group. Thank you to Annie Jacobs for your assistance and guidance throughout the project.
The works produced for the project acknowledge the challenges ahead but serve an ode to the fertile nurturing brought by winter rains and a celebration of life that water sustains.
